The Other Four-Letter Word
I know we have all used many different and colorful four letter words in setting up our online businesses, but the one I’m talking about, the most important four letter word you need to know and use, is FREE! Whatever you are selling, providing, promoting or blogging about, offer free gifts to your customers, and watch your traffic and response rates really launch. Who doesn’t like free stuff? As I said, it’s of little importance what type of product or service you are marketing, giving away free stuff is a promotional tool and it will build your online credibility.
There are many things you could give away for free, my preferred gift is an ebook. In giving away an ebook that is related to your product or service, your advantage is threefold:
1. You generate free publicity for yourself and your website
2. You build online credibility by ensuring your ebook is useful and relevant
3. You now have a good reason to use the word FREE in your advertising campaign
Remember though, the content of your ebook must be relevant to your site and your target market. Do not give away ebooks about dog-grooming on your site that promotes golf tips. Common sense right? Also make sure the ebook is more than just a feeble attempt to promote your stuff. Relevant material, otherwise you could potentially harm your online reputation.
There are lots of websites that allow you to download ebooks, some charge a little and some don’t, do a little research. A lot of ebooks will come with resell rights, meaning the ebook is now yours. You can sell it or give it away, whatever you like. So why not sell one, and give one away as a free gift? Simple. All of the products I sell come with a FREE gift to my customers.
